Spring rainfall was below average which helped disease control and provided dry conditions for the flowering period. This dry spell lingered through summer and with the expert water usage, helped us control vine vigour resulting in balanced canopies. From veraison through to harvest, the weather was very warm and dry, yet cool nights resulted in exceptional acid retention to balance fruit flavour development.
Sauvignon Blanc was harvested between in late February, during the coolest part of the day and delivered to the winery immediately to preserve flavour.
Winery & Region
Adelaide Hills vines began to be planted in the 1870s and are one of Australia's most sophisticated and beautiful cool climate wine region with about 50 cellar doors across its incredible landscape. In the regions, early days with the cool climate changes the vines had to be taken up by 1930 and only replanted 40 years later. Due to the Adelaide Hills climate, the grapes are best suited to early ripening varieties.
